marta pilla
Principal + Design Director
Marta relocated to Washington DC from her home state of New Jersey to study Architecture at The Catholic University of America where she earned her Undergraduate and Master's degrees. She has called DC home since then and has enjoyed work opportunities in large and small office environments and with a diversity of project types.
After a decade of working in corporate interior design, Marta transitioned to residential design and in that arena, Design Cadence was born. Marta delights in helping clients convert houses to homes. She loves solving a space challenge and observing the construction process to see the solution built. She truly enjoys working in collaboration with clients to bring their projects to life.
Sarah Rudolph
Finance + Procurement Manager
Sarah joined Design Cadence in 2022. She brings work experience in small businesses and the systems that help them hum. She previously supported another small design firm and is well-versed in the intricate behind-the-scenes operations that go into design projects.
Sarah is detail-oriented, solutions-driven, super organized, and an overall lovely human being. Marta and all of Design Cadence's clients are lucky to work with her!
maëlla bouchard
Content + Studio Manager
Maëlla joined the crew in 2023. She has experience in design-build, staging, residential real estate, and design retail. Simply stated, she has vast knowledge about everything that goes into a design project!
She has loved all things design since she was a child - always rearranging, repainting or refurnishing her bedrooms (and any other room she could convince her parents to let her revamp). She knows the way it feels to walk into a space and have it feel like “you”, and she loves helping clients achieve that feeling.
Emily Everhope
Design + Project Manager
Emily came to Design Cadence after working for 10+ years in the design industry in the DC area. Her career spans multiple project types and locations, however the steady undercurrent is a deep care for the people whose lives are directly impacted by the designs she works on. She truly believes in beauty and that good design is for everyone. She loves seeing how this takes shape for our clients at Design Cadence. Emily also enjoys the careful coordination with clients, contractors, consultants, and skilled craftspeople to make spaces come together successfully.
She is from Warrenton, Virginia and grew up 'coming into the city' for museums and sightseeing. Now a DC girl, she enjoys being involved in her community, appreciating the local arts scene, and spending time outdoors with her family.
